Miner

Potosi is famous for its mines. Once a wealthy city with rich mineral resources, its former glories now exist as souvenirs, in museums and the impressive buildings of the Central Plaza . Much has changed since the days of slavery when the mines were forcibly constructed under the Spanish; now the miners are free to [...]

Power to the Peaceful Festival

I went here last year and just loved what this city has to offer but this time I’m going just to see the one day music festival that Michael Franti puts on every year. Last year alone 70,000 people people showed up for this free concert.

4 Day trip to Vegas

So many things to do while here. I’m not a big gambler but I’ve been able to find plenty other things to do.
Grand Canyon is the first and foremost thing I want to see along with the Hoover Damn. The strip of course. A mob tour of Vegas that gives you a bit of history [...]

Elephant Camp

Another great volunteering opportunity that grabbed my attention is the opportunity to work with the friendly giant the elephant. From what I can gather I’m mostly going to help out with the marketing, promotion, web affairs, press releases and such things for a new office they are opening in Northern Laos close to Luang [...]

Tiger Temple

One of the most interesting volunteer opportunities I was able to find is the chance to work with the endangered Bengal Tiger. This place is known as the Tiger Temple. It’s only a couple hours west of Bangkok in the well known town of Kanchanaburi. They have 18 Bengal Tigers and more on the way. [...]

First Blog Entry

Well as most of you know I’m leaving for Asia on Sept. 6th. I figure I’d give blogging a try but more then likely Facebook will be where I post everything.

…and so it concludes.

I’ve been back home for about a day now. Yesterday I was saddened to have to say goodbye to Dublin, yet at the same time I was excited to say hello to Chicago… and more importantly to my friends and family! It’s weird to sit here in my bedroom in the States when [...]

Fisrt let me explain the name of this blog because it goes back to before I was even in Ireland. Back in Boston there’s a boxing club I workout at and before I left I was talking to one of the coaches, Todd, about how I was going to stay in shape over summer. [...]

Sand and Cheese Sandwich anyone?

So after a 9 hour bus trip through winding dirt roads in towering mountainous rainforests virtually anyone would be a little ill. Nuttter is resting up and loving Savannakhet. Quiet, cosy litle town. Highlights are the English signs through out the town.

Vientianne - Not for long.

Dispatches from Laos have our hero making a bee-line out of Vientianne to Savannakhet. Vientianne is a little too touristy and - to date - the most expensive place so far. THe bus ride from Vientianne to Savannakhet was billed as 6 hours. reality: 9. OUCH!
AT HOME.(snoring sounds) “wha… wha? oh, (picks up hammer and [...]
